SnapTrade is the safe marketplace to buy and sell used commercial catering equipment and used restaurant equipment.
The seller lists the equipment they would like to sell. When a buyer is interested in buying the item, an order is created and the buyer is sent a proforma invoice to make payment on. The buyer makes payment into our Escrow account. We then verify the seller, and verify the equipment is as advertised. If we are satisfied, we then arrange for the equipment to be collected from the seller and delivered to the buyer. The seller has the responsibility to ensure that the equipment is packaged appropriately for transport. Only once the equipment has been collected and is in possession of our transport company, do we then release payment to the seller.
Click on the green NEW LISTING button on the top of any page, or the green '+' button when using a mobile device. REGISTER a new profile, or sign in if you registered previously. Click ADD LISTING Choose a category of equipment which your item falls under. If the appliance cooks or heats in anyway, then choose 'Cooking & Heating'. Choose a sub-category for your item. Then add clears photos for your listing, for all sides, and include a photo of the nameplate on the appliance. Click SUBMIT LISTING. We will then review your listing and approve it, or we will contact you if you if we need more information.
You can list as many items as you wish. Simply repeat the process of listing an item, shown in the previous question.
It does not cost you anything to list an item for sale. We will add our commission onto the advertised selling price that buyers will see.
If viewing all listings, click on the one you are interested in. If on desktop computer/laptop, complete the PLACE ORDER form on the right hand side of the page. If on a mobile device, scroll down on the listing page, until you see the PLACE ORDER form. Complete the form. We will then email you a proforma invoice for payment.
We do not charge any fees to sellers or buyers. When a seller lists an item for sale, they include the price they are selling it for. We simply add our commission of 15% onto the selling price. Buyers see the total price, with our commission already included.
In terms of what we do, Escrow means that once a Buyer has paid us for a particular item for sale, we hold onto the Buyers money until we have verified that the item being bought is the same as what was advertised. We only release the payment to the seller once our transporter has collected the item from the seller.
Sellers are verified on request, or when a buyer has confirmed that they want to buy the listed item. A) In order to be a verified seller, you need to provide us with a form of ID to perform Identity Verification. We require a clear, in focus photo of yourself, holding your ID card or drivers license, where both you and your ID and ID number are visible. B) Listings are verified once we have a buyer than confirms they are interested in the listing. We then contact the seller to provide us with proof that the item does exist and is as advertised. The seller needs to provide us with a photo of themselves standing next to or holding the item they are selling.
We do Identity Verification checks on the seller, and we also require proof from the seller that the item does in fact exist, and matches the advertised specifications.

Yes, you can make your listing a featured listing. Featured listings are shown at the top of listing pages and category pages. Featured listings expire after 30 days.
Yes, you can make your listing a featured listing for R150.00. Featured listings are shown at the top of listing pages and category pages. Featured listings expire after 30 days. To make your listing a Featured Listing, sign in, go to MY ACCOUNT, and click on the (STAR) icon shown next to your listing. Follow the steps to make payment. Or go to MY ACCOUNT, and click the 'EDIT' icon shown next to your listing, then click on the FEATURE link to complete your order for a featured listing and complete payment. Once paid, your listing will become a Featured Listing for 30 days.
Once we have received clear payment from the buyer, the seller needs to package the item, following which we arrange for our transporter to collect the item. We then deliver the item to the seller. From when we receive payment, to when we deliver to the buyer, takes can take between 3 to 7 days.
We deliver nationwide anywhere in South Africa. The delivery fee advertised on the listing page, is to major towns and cities in South Africa. If you are located in a rural or remote area that is not serviced by couriers regularly, there may be an additional delivery surcharge. But don't worry, when we send you the proforma invoice for payment, the delivery fee shown will be the final delivery fee to deliver to your address.
SnapTrade does not offer any guarantee or warranty on the equipment. Goods sold are sold "voetstoets" or "as is", the same as when you are buying any used goods from another person. The difference is we verify sellers, and we verify the equipment they are selling does in fact exist, and that the physical item does match what is advertised in the item listing.
